My brother's water broke yesterday (ok, his wife's) and he has a brand new baby boy! He was born at 10 pounds, 2 ounces, 21.5 inches long! Holy crap. My sister-in-law gave birth to a 6 month old. We all love him already. :) Even his older brother, Jared, who's in for a big surprise when they bring home that cute chunk of flesh. He's going to be wondering why he's taking up all of mommy's and daddy's time. :)
I had my bottom wisdom teeth taken out this past Friday and I am at home still recovering. The worst part about this experience is not the pain, but the fact that I can't chew. I like meat with my Lortab. So ice cream and smoothies for me this weekend. When can I eat steak again?
In the meantime, found my way into the scrap room today to make some cards. Love this Create a Critter Cricut Cartridge. So easy to paper-piece.
I cleaned my scrap space and found some printed textured cards from DCWV. Thought I would play with the Give A Hoot Cricut Cartridge and add an owl. It feels good to get out of the creative funk I've been in. One of these days, you might see a scrapbook page. :)
Look at all this eye candy! I can see a new obsession in the making!

Finished my first sewing project! Wahoo! :) It's a pin cushion and I had good practice ironing and putting fabric together. I only worked with very old scraps since I didn't want to waste my newly purchased cute fabric. Fabric, in this day and age, looks like scrapbook paper. So many to choose from and so little time. Uh oh. Found something else to hoard besides scrapbook supplies.
This is my sewing machine. It's a White Model 1999, given to me by my husband years ago. I've only really used it for my scrapbooks but I am making an effort to actually use it with fabric. It's a manual machine, but she still chugs along. I've named her Betty. :) My husband thinks I have lost my mind. Like I haven't already lost it. Ha!
I am so excited for this online beginner sewing class. I have never had a formal lesson and I can't wait to really play with my sewing machine the way it was designed to be used. The great thing about this class is that it is designed for the busy person. I can go at my own pace and the class information is available for a year. There are lots cute, little projects, and they all seem doable even for a newbie like me. Anyone want to take this class with me? You can still sign up until August 15th. :)
I stayed home sick today and made myself go into the craft room. I have lost my creative mojo and I am desperate for it to return. In between trips to the bathroom, I read blogs and tutorials on crafty projects. Too much info, I'm sure, but there are only 6 of us paying attention to this blog. :) I joined an online sewing class and I am very excited. I took Home Ec in 7th grade and almost sewed my finger off. This time I have my own machine and I am a bit more careful. I plan on buying supplies this weekend and actually use my sewing machine to sew on fabric. I've only really sewed on paper. In honor of my first sewing class, I made this little felt owl. Not perfect but it's a step in the right direction. :)
